Typhoon damage report:
* Several boats of different capacity broken up between the P.W.D. Wharf and Tap Tam Wan. The Police assisted in rescuing about 100 persons (men and children).
A vessel returned. Three bullockers (dead) washed up on the beach at the Sailor's Home wharf. One life lost.
The roof of a building along the Praya was severely damaged. Five houses in the village were in a very dangerous state.
You may see holes in the Praya at Lai Chi Kok. 200 boats of different sizes were wrecked. 257 people were assisted by the Police. Several persons and steam launches sank. The Praya wall was almost destroyed.
Several houses were completely gone. A number of trees were blown down.
At Shau Kei Wan, several boats were broken up. A member of the Police was untroubled. At Police Station 111, a launch was completely wrecked. No. 3 Launch was driven ashore and slightly damaged.
On the Peak, the Police Station was slightly damaged. Mintoni Lodge and Austin Arms were damaged. North Pavilion was unroofed.
At Stanly, one house was blown down and several others were unroofed. No lives lost.
Trees were blown down in the yard opposite the Naval Yard. Damage was reported at various locations, including Royal Mint Street, I Race Course, Government Dockyard, Lum Road, Struise, Albert Road, Bonham Road, Hollywood Road, and Caine Road.
